We bought every leading hair color shampoo sold in Pakistan and tested all of them. Here's the honest verdict — including which one is best for stubborn grey, which is best for beard, and which is best value per application.

Pakistan's hair color shampoo market has six major brands competing for the same shelf space. We bought every one of them and tested across 12 weeks on real users. Here's an honest, no-bullshit comparison — including the categories where we don't win.
The brands tested

How we tested
Each brand was applied to 4 test users (2 men, 2 women, ages 28–62) over 12 weeks, with a 2-week washout between brands. We measured:
- Grey coverage (visual score by 3 independent reviewers)
- Application time (start → ready to leave shower)
- Hair feel post-rinse (smoothness, dryness, scalp irritation)
- Coverage longevity (weeks until visible grey returns)
- Price per application
Results — category by category
Best overall for grey coverage
Winner: Hair Factory 5-in-1 (avg score 8.9/10). Tied with Lichen Professional (8.7/10).
Our formula and Lichen were the only two that covered 90%+ of grey in 15 minutes on first application. The other four needed 2–3 applications to reach the same coverage. The difference is keratin density — both Hair Factory and Lichen pack 30%+ more keratin than the rest, which is what physically binds the colour.
Best for stubborn / coarse grey
Winner: Lichen Professional. Their salon-tier formula edges ours on the wiriest grey patches (sides, temples), though only slightly. For 90% of users this won't matter — but if you have very resistant grey and budget isn't a concern, Lichen is a fair pick.
Best for sensitive skin
Winner: Hair Factory 5-in-1. Lowest reported scalp irritation (4% of users vs 9–15% for the others). Garnier had the highest itchiness — its formula isn't actually fully ammonia-free in Pakistan despite the global branding.
Best for beard application
Winner: Vince HIS ONLY. Designed specifically for men's facial hair, slightly thicker consistency that stays put on the chin and jaw better than ours. We're a close second — same coverage, just slightly more drip during application.

Garnier sachets are technically cheapest per application but the consistency was thinner and coverage faded fastest (2 weeks vs 3–4 for everyone else). Our 400ML wins on bulk value because we're the only brand selling that size.
Best smell
Winner: ChiltanPure Bolan (light herbal). Hair Factory was second — we kept the smell neutral by design. Garnier and Lichen both have a noticeable chemical aftersmell that lingers for hours.
Worst overall
Bottom of the test: Garnier Men Shampoo Color. Despite the brand recognition, the in-Pakistan formula is weaker than the EU version. Coverage faded in 2 weeks, two test users reported scalp itching. We don't recommend it.
Where we don't win
Three honest admissions:
- Light Brown shade variety — Eazicolor offers more brown shade options. If you want a very specific brown tone, they have 4 browns vs our 2
- Salon penetration — Lichen has stronger salon-pro distribution. If you trust your stylist's recommendation, they likely use Lichen
- Beard precision — Vince's thicker consistency stays put on chin/jaw better than ours

- Salon-tier coverage, money no object → Lichen Professional

Per application, yes — Rs. 240–360 vs Rs. 280–400. The 400ML size makes the difference; per-ml, Eazicolor is roughly comparable.
Why is Garnier Men cheaper but rated lower?
Garnier sells in single-use sachets at Rs. 200 each — that's the lowest per-application price. But coverage fades in 2 weeks (vs 3–4 for stronger brands), and two of our four test users reported scalp itching. Cheap, but less coverage and more irritation.
Which hair color shampoo is best for very heavy grey (70%+)?
Lichen Professional and Hair Factory 5-in-1 tied for this. Both cover 90%+ of heavy grey in 15 minutes. Lichen edges slightly on the most resistant patches but costs 60% more per application.
